BACKFLUSH FILTER SYSTEM FOR DOWNHOLE PUMPS

A self-cleaning filter (10) is provided on the inlet (12) of a pump (14) suspended within the casing (16) of a well tubing (18). The upper end of tubing (18) is received in a head (20). A pumping jack (22) is provided adjacent head (20) and includes a polish rod (24) suspended therefrom and through head (20) and down through tubing (18). The filter (10) may be any type which when loaded with particulates can be backflushed.
