<p>A compound represented by following general formula (1): R1-A-R2, stereoisomers and optical isomers thereof, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. This compound has a potent squalene synthetase inhibitor activity and is useful as a cholesterol-lowering agent. In the formula, R1 represents optionally substituted saturated or unsaturated alkyl; R2 represents a group represented by general formula (2) (wherein R3, R4 and R5 represent each hydrogen or lower alkyl; R6 represents hydrogen or alkyl; and n represents 1 or 2) general formula (3) (wherein R3, R4 and R5 represents each hydrogen or lower alkyl; and R6 represents hydrogen or hydroxy, general formula (4) (wherein R3 represents lower alkyl), or general formula (5) (wherein R3, R4 and R5 represent each hydrogen or lower alkyl; and R6 represents hydrogen or alkyl); and A represents O, S, SO or NR7.</p> |
