PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal orientating agent highly adhesive to the electrode substrate of a liq. crystal cell by adding a polymer obtained from a tetracarboxylic dianhydride and a diamine contg. a specified organosiloxane into the agent. CONSTITUTION:This liq. crystal orientating agent contains 100 pts.wt. of a polymer obtained by the reaction of a tetracarboxylic dianhydride with a diamine compd. and/or its imide polymer and 0.1-20 pts.wt. of a polymer obtained by the reaction of a tetracarboxylic dianhydride with a polymer obtained by the reaction of a tetracarboxylic dianhydride with an organosilicon- contg. diamine compd. shown by the formula. In the formula, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are 1-12C hydrocarbonic groups and can be the same or different, (a) and (c) are an integer of 1 to 10, and can be the same or different and (b) is an integer of 1 to 20. |
