摘要 PURPOSE:To enable thermal recording with high sensitivity by low output laser by providing a thermal layer containing a colorless color forming component, a color forming component reacting with this component to form a color and an infrared absorbing dye on a support and using a specific indene bonded polymethine dye as the infrared absorbing dye. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal layer containing a substantially colorless color forming component A, a substantially colorless color forming component B reacting with the component A to form a color and an infrared absorbing dye is provided on a support, as the infrared absorbing dye, an indene bonded polymethine dye represented by formula (wherein R is a 1-6C alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, a 5-10C aryl group or a hetaryl group, R1-R5 are a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, A is -COR, -CO2R, or -CONHR, B is A, a hydrogen atom, -R or -SR, Y is a dialkyl group substituted carbon atom or vinylene, Z is a hydrogen atom or a 5-6-membered cyclic atom group and n is an integer of 0-3) is used.
