PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet apparatus with high reliability, capable of preventing ink from adhering to the vicinity of a nozzle and reliably removing bubbles. CONSTITUTION:Since a nozzle 132 is provided to face downward, ink droplets 142 adhere again to a nozzle plate 144 by bounce from a recording medium due to the action of their gravity and other disturbances, and jet is not adversely affected. Bubbles 146 infiltrated through the nozzle 132 and the like gather in a bubble reservoir groove 130 provided just above the nozzle 132 due to their buoyancy. After a nozzle suction member adheres closely to the nozzle plate 144 and a bubble suction member adheres closely to a valve means 134, a suction pump is operated. By this suction, dust and the like around the nozzle 132 are removed from the nozzle suction member, and the bubbles 146 in the bubble reservoir groove 130 are also removed from the bubble suction member. |
