Process for producing a polyolefin, which includes polymerising or copolymerising at least one olefin in the presence of a catalyst system including (A) a solid catalyst component of a titanium catalyst component obtained by reacting at least one aluminium halide compound with a homogeneous solution containing magnesium, titanium and alkoxy groups, where the aluminium halide compound is added to the homogeneous solution to contribute a halogen atom in a molar ratio of 0.2 to 0.4 per one mole of alkoxy groups present in the homogeneous solution in order to precipitate particles in the first stage and the aluminium halide compound is next added in order to provide a halogen atom in a molar ratio of 1 to 20 per one mole of alkoxy groups, in order to treat the resulting mixture containing the precipitated particles in the subsequent stage and (B) at least one catalyst component of organic aluminium compound. <IMAGE>
