An orthesis for the fixation and/or induced movement of an extremity or part thereof comprises a frame to be fastened on the patient and on to which a rail supporting the extremity is hinged. Between the frame and the rail there is a supporting device which has a drive unit in order to move the rail to and fro relative to the frame.
