Apparatus and process for extruding and shaping a sheet

Two extruding devices (10) melt two separate thermoplastic polymers and feed them to at least one accumulating chamber (11). An extrusion orifice (12) runs transversely from one side of the apparatus to the opposite side. It is narrow in comparison with its length and is in connection with the accumulating chamber (11). A plunger (14) penetrates the accumulating chamber (11), where a molten thermoplastic polymer accumulates. The pushing forward of the plunger (14) effects the rapid extrusion of a hot sheet. By closing two mould parts (13), the hot sheet is grasped and brought into the desired shape (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
