<p>PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a reproduced picture by using a comparison block whose vector distance is closest to a symmetry block as predicted block information for motion compensation and using position information in a search window of a prediction block for a motion vector. CONSTITUTION:Absolute sum of differences between picture elements between an object block and a comparison block in a search window is calculated and its calculation result and a vector are stored in a register A12 in the order of retrieval. Then error data in the register 12 and error data in a register B13 stored already are compared. When an error of the register A is smaller, data in the register A are stored in the register B. On the other hand, when the error of the register A is larger than or equal to, the error is compared. When both errors are equal, the vector distance in the registers A, B is compared and the data of the registration closer to an object block are stored in the register B and the data in the register B are used finally as a motion vector.</p> |
