The device for controlling ventilation openings comprises motor means which generate the rotational force and switch means in which either the power of the motor means is transmitted to a member for causing ventilation devices such as a flap to be opened, or the power is prevented from being transmitted to the leaf of a shutter when an external force is applied in a direction opposed to the direction of travel of the shutter. The switch means include a driven connecting rod 60 which rotates in the direction of rotation of the said means for bringing about ventilation opening when the force is applied and an elastic member 100 for applying the elastic force to the said driven connecting rod 60 so that the movement of a free end of the said elastic member 100 is interrupted by a stop member 95 and so that the other end of the said elastic member is moved along the driven connecting rod 60 when the external force is applied. Application to means for operating shutters which are insensitive to untimely external influences.
