Setting out from this prior art, the invention is based on the object of providing a moulded piece of a generic type mentioned at the beginning, and also a process and an apparatus for its production, which part is made up inexpensively of waste materials without additional fillers, excludes any leaching out of the core region and nevertheless, as a finished product, has a surprisingly high resistance to pressure, bending and acids. This object is achieved according to the invention with regard to the product in that it comprises a shaped block (24, 32, 37, 42, 44, 49, 52) which is thermoplastically heated, expanded by a blowing agent, compressed in an injection mould (9, 9a, 9b, 9c) and subsequently vented and cooled by air, made of a mixture of sorted polymer waste materials from the waste industry (Duales System) and of fillers of plastic carpet cut offs and/or waste remains of sanitary products with cellulose, such as nappies or the like, which has a denser structure in its outer region than in its core region.
