A method and apparatus for reducing respiratory abnormalities in infants and the incidence of crib death by providing a flow of room air to a sleeping infant's environment to stimulate breathing. The room air is delivered into a crib (2) through an air plenum (1) that is removably attached to the vertical bars (12) of a crib and positioned within 1 cm to 20 cm of the infant's mouth, nose, larynx and trachea.
