The invention relates to an apparatus for sintering ceramic bodies by heating them by means of microwaves. For economical industrial production, an apparatus for continuous operation is proposed which has at least one fixed sintering table (1) on which bodies (3) to be sintered can be placed. A microwave tunnel (4), supported on a bearer (8) and driven by a drive device (9), can be moved free of vibration across the sintering table. In a preferred configuration, bodies (3) to be sintered are located in microwave-transparent and heat-insulating cassettes (2) which are placed on the sintering table (1).
