A method for preparing a supported catalyst consisting of porous support grains over which nanoscopic transition metal particles having an average diameter of less that 2 nanometres are dispersed with a dispersion higher than 70 %. The method comprises the steps of using a precursor made up of an organometallic complex capable of being activated then thermally decomposed, continuously diluting the vapour from said precursor in a carrier gas flow, optionally mixing the carrier gas flow with an activating gas, particularly a reducing gas for promoting the formation of active molecular species from said organometallic complex, continuously feeding the vapour-loaded gas flow through a pourous grain bed at a pressure below 1 bar under conditions suitable for fluidising the grains , activating the organometallic precursor as it passes through the fluidised bed, and causing the thermal decomposition of the active molecular species which have been absorbed onto the grains of the support.
|
