The subject matter of the invention is a feed apparatus on a suspension conveyor. The suspension conveyor has conveying hooks (2), running on a carrying profile (1) and drawn by a drawing means (4), with a retaining finger (3). The feed apparatus comprises a stepwise conveying device (6) for conveyor goods suspended on clothes hooks (12), e.g. items of clothing, and a short transfer path (11) in extension of the stepwise conveying device (6) with an approximately U-shaped cross-section and a stopping lug (11.1) at the free end. The retaining fingers (3) penetrate into the groove (13) between the U-legs. Endlessly circulating, parallel conveying belts (14) on whose upper strand the clothes hooks (12) are seated are integrated into the U-legs of the transfer path (11). The transfer path (11) is mounted on a horizontal pivot pin (8), with the result that, in the event of disruption, the end with the stopping lug (11.1) pivots downwards out of the running path (0) of the conveying hooks (2). A first detector (20) at the end of the stepwise conveying device (6) indicates the presence or absence of a clothes hook to a higher-level control device. A second detector (21) indicates the approach of the next free conveying hook (2), whereupon the higher-level control device starts the stepwise conveying device (6). By virtue of the apparatus according to the invention, the clothes hooks (12) are guided and retained in a controlled manner at every point in time, with the result that an extremely short clock sequence can be maintained. <IMAGE>
