An ultrasonic welding apparatus has a first sound transducer 1 which performs longitudinal vibrations. The sound transducer 1 is connected to a bar-shaped resonator 3. The length of the resonator 3 corresponds to an integral multiple of lambda/2. A second sound transducer 2 performing longitudinal vibrations is coupled to the free end face of the resonator 3. The second sound transducer 2 vibrates in synchronism with the first sound transducer 1. <IMAGE>
