The invention relates to a refrigerant compressor for an air-conditioning system of a motor vehicle, the compressor comprising a rotatable swashplate and axially movable pistons arranged in cylinder bodies, a low-pressure side with an intake duct and with inlet valves and a high-pressure side with exhaust valves, and a damping device for noise damping being arranged in the compressor. In order to design a refrigerant compressor of the generic type in such a way that good noise damping can be achieved on the inlet side of the compressor, a diffuser insert in the inlet duct is proposed by the invention, the diffuser insert having an inflow branch connected to which is a pipe with a closed end and a tubular jacket with holes via which flow can take place between the intake duct and the inflow stub.
