PURPOSE: To provide an electric connector assembly for protecting each of electric wires from surge voltage/current by a single protecting unit as well as by splicing the multiple electric wires together. CONSTITUTION: A sub-assembly 12 includes a barrel terminal 16 that is so installed in a housing portion 14 as to be rotatable by an actuator 26. In the bottom side of the housing portion 14, a protecting unit 20 is located. Leads 52, 54 of the protecting unit 20 are retained in grooves extending along a center post 24, and contact the inner surface of the barrel terminal. At the bottom side of the sub-assembly 12, a protecting portion housing 18 is installed and sealed if necessary. In this installation, a beam 76 of a ground strap 70 receives a grounding lead 50 of the protecting unit 20 in its slot 78. |
