PICTURE DATA COMPRESSION PROCESSING METHOD

摘要

PURPOSE:To provide the picture data compression method able to compress picture data at a high compression ratio without deteriorating picture quality of an original picture. CONSTITUTION:Wavelet transformation 2 is applied to original picture data 1 representing an original picture to obtain picture data 3 for plural frequency bands. Then a picture element whose picture data 3 are a predetermined value or below is detected in the step 4 among picture data 3 for a predetermined frequency band and processing in the step 5 is executed in which the picture data 3 of the picture element corresponding to the detected picture element of a predetermined value or below are set to zero in the processing 5 among the picture data 3 at a frequency band higher than the frequency band higher than that of the former. Then all the picture data 3 to which making 0 processing 5 is made and all the picture data 3 to which no making 0 processing 5 is made are coded in the step 6.
