The cap opens laterally over its entire length when the operator presses together two tabs (1) fixed laterally along the diametrically opposite side. The part (4) of the cap located between the two tabs acts as a hinge by virtue of the fact that it is considerably narrowed by a channel hollowed in the inner face of the cap. For improved holding, a rubber strip (3) is forcibly inserted between the two tabs. This cap therefore makes it possible to prevent the accidental pricking which contributes to the propagation of diseases which can be passed on through blood contact (serum), in particular to the nursing staff. <IMAGE>
