PURPOSE:To ensure reliability without increasing a cost by a method wherein a four-speed automatic transmission forms a fundamental structure, an auxiliary gear shifting mechanism consisting of an under drive mechanism arranged on a second shaft forms a three-speed mechanism through slight variation, forward five speeds are provided in a state to maintain on-vehicle ability, and parts are used in common. CONSTITUTION:A main gear shifting mechanism 2 forms the same as being a foundation. An auxiliary mechanism 5 is formed such that, in addition to a first single planetary gear 10, a fourth brake, and a third clutch C3 which a mechanism forming a foundation consists, a second single planetary gear 11, a brake B5 to lock a carrier CR4, and a one-way clutch F3 are arranged.
