PURPOSE: To exchange a seal-bearing structure without dividing it by providing a pair of bearing-seal cartridges of the same structure to the respective modular bearing-seal assembly utilized in the respective ends of cutter stacks and incorporating the assembly into an end housing to form the upper and lower modular pairs. CONSTITUTION: A pair of cutter stacks 44 and 46 having respective cutter elements 48 arranged alternately and the gear means 38 and 40 to transmit the rotary motion of an electric motor 24 to rotate the cutter elements of one stack in the opposite direction to the cutter elements of the other in the cutter stacks 44 and 46. The respective cutter stacks 44 and 46 are provided with rotatable central shafts 36 and 37 and one bearing module each at the respective ends, and each bearing module comprises end housings 58 and 60 and a pair of insertable pre-assembled bearing assemblies 54 and 56 mountable in each of the end housings.
