The invention relates to a holding and carrying device for alto, tenor, baritone and bass saxophones, but also alto, tenor, bass and double-bass clarinets, and also bassoons and double-bass bassoons, in other words all woodwind instruments which have previously, irrespective of their weight, been suspended in orthopaedically unfavourable leverage on the cervical vertebrae. It consists of two, or, for baritone sax and deeper, for clarinets and bassoons, of three parts and relieves not only the cervical vertebral column but also, via the weight shift onto shoulders and pelvis, both thumbs. The innovation consists of the upper part of the rucksack holding arrangement type and the belt-like lower part, both provided with holding hooks. The hook of the upper part latches into the eyelet provided for it on the instrument, and that of the lower part into a ring bolt mounted to this end on the E flat basket of the instrument. In the case of clarinets and bassoons, this ring bolt is screwed into the wood in a corresponding place far below the upper holding eyelet. In the case of saxophones from before 1950 with T protection bars instead of protection baskets over the E flat key, the hook of the pelvic belt is latched directly on the outer corner there.
