LIQUID ADHESIVE APPLICATOR MEANS AND ASSOCIATED METHOD

An applicator (1) for applying liquid adhesive to the surface of a sheet of material in which the applicator (1) has a reservoir containing the liquid adhesive (3) and a cylindrical, rotatable coating roller (6) in operative communication with the reservoir to apply a wide layer of uniform thickness of the adhesive onto the surface. A cover (10) is provided for selectively enclosing the coating roller (6) and the reservoir and provide a substantially air-tight closure of the reservoir and coating roller (6) to inhibit drying of the liquid adhesive (3). The adhesive (3) remains in the reservoir ready for use without external heating. The applicator can be in the form of a portable, hand-held unit or a motor-driven automatic unit.
