Process for high-temperature gasification of mixed waste material, melting out the mineral constituents and if appropriate the metallic constituents

A process is described for melting out mixed waste material, in which, in a shaft furnace, the carbon of a charge of the given mixed material solidified into pieces by thermal pretreatment is gasified with addition of oxygen and is used as an energy source for melting out from the charge mineral materials together with the metallic portions. The charge is supported by internally cooled support studs, at least in areas outside the molten liquid fused material, so that a mineral protective coat can form around the areas of the support studs projecting into the furnace compartment. The protective coat provides melt cooling along its surface. The support studs are introduced into the charge of mixed waste material approximately at the level of oxygen introduction. The protective coat and the melt cooling are formed by setting a suitable temperature gradient and thus by solidification and melting processes of the mineral substance itself which has been melted out.
