METHOD FOR OPERATING ROTARY KILN FOR REDUCTION OF IRON AND STEEL

PURPOSE:To lower the consumption unit of carbonaceous materials by improving the recovery rate of Zn and Pb from iron and steel dust in operation of a rotary kiln for reduction of the iron and steel dust. CONSTITUTION:Powdery coke of 100 meshes is added and mixed to and with the iron and steel dust and the mixture is pelletized. The powdery coke of <=1mm average grain size is added to the pellets formed in such a manner. The amt. of the total carbon reducing agent is so adjusted as to attain 1 to 1.5equiv. by defining the stoichiometric quantity to completely metallize Fe2O3 and ZnO in the iron and steel dust as 1equiv.
