PURPOSE:To provide a carbon fiber bundle having converging properties, reduced in the generation of fluff, reducing resin flow and prevented from the generation of shift at the time of molding by boding a specific wt. amt. of one kind of a compd. among compds. represented by specific general formulae to the carbon fiber and setting the width of the carbon fiber bundle to a specific value with respect to the thickness thereof. CONSTITUTION:A compd. represented by one of formulae I, II, III (wherein R1 is H or OH and m + n is 8-50), that is, a sizing agent enhances the compatibility with a matrix resin and imparts smoothness to a carbon fiber bundle and has function lowering the coefficient of friction of the carbon fiber bundle to suppress fluffing. Since the respective components of the compd. is in a copolymerized state, the viscosity characteristics of the sizing agent can be adjusted and the converging properties of the carbon fiber bundle can be freely changed. 0.1-0.5wt.% of the sizing agent being the compd. represented by at least one of the formulae I, II, III is applied to the carbon fiber bundle. The width of the cross-sectional shape of the carbon fiber bundle to which the sizing agent is applied is set to 20-250 with respect to the thickness thereof. |
