In a device for controlling a window wiping system, a sensor device (12) is arranged in the wiping area (10a) of a wiper, which sensor device (12) is passed over by the wiper during a wiping process. A counting arrangement (15) is provided whose counter counts the signals Es conveyed by the sensor device (12) during a wiping process as a means for detecting the signals produced by the sensor being passed over, a specific value of the counter (Z) being exceeded triggering a further wiping process. This value is at least larger than the number of signals which are produced by the sensor device (12) while the wiper is passing over. In this arrangement, a switching contact device (14) resets the value of the counting arrangement to an initial value as soon as the wiper is in a position assigned to the switching contact device (14).
