Remote controlled central heating

In a central heating system, control signals are passed from a central programmed control unit 10 to individual to-be-controlled devices 22 via the electricity ring main system 12. Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) or Frequency Shift Key encoding can be employed. Also disclosed is a motorised valve actuator (figure 3) that can be retrofitted on an existing radiator valve which can be used along with the control system to provide an automatically adjustable central heating system.
