PURPOSE: To provide an adjusting device with a starting/stopping device for a screw type compressor and the stopping/starting device having a simple structure and have no energy loss or little energy losses. CONSTITUTION: An electric motor 2 is rotated by a means 9 for controlling the electric motor 2 at such a rotation speed that the pressure in a vessel 6 is almost constant and the frequency is controlled, a starting and stopping device of a compressor element 1 includes a check valve 12, and the check valve is provided in an inlet 10 of the compressor element 1.
