MULTIPLE CYLINDER INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve output torque and reinforce swirls at the low speed time while preventing knocking at the high speed time so as to improve the combustion stability and durability of an engine by varying the valve opening/closing timing of two intake valves according to the operating condition of the engine. CONSTITUTION:A multiple cylinder internal combustion engine with two intake valves 29 and the like per one cylinder is provided with a variable valve system 35 for making the valve opening/closing timing of the intake valves 29 and the like variable according to the operating condition of the engine. The variable valve system 35 is constituted in such a way as to make the valve opening time of two intake valves 29 and the like different and to make the valve closing timing approximately coincident at the low speed time of the engine whereas to make the valve opening timing of two intake valves 29 and the like approximately coincident at the high speed time of the engine.
