PURPOSE:To provide the high-speed and large-capacity device having a connecting structure for light signals which does not require intricate line patterns by constituting the device in such a manner that a light source transmits information after receiving the reception information in a photodetector and processing the information in a sub-system. CONSTITUTION:A layer 14 having the various sub-systems to be internally connected is formed on a substrate layer 12. The sub-systems are individual chips 15. The information to be processed is prepd. as optical patterns or images to be projected to the surface of a wafer 10, which patterns or images stimulate the photodetector 16B coupled to the prescribed sub-systems 15. The signals processed after processing with the prescribed sub-system 15 are introduced via an LED coupled to the sub-system 15 to a common waveguide 18 and are then propagated to the other sub-system 15 through the photodetector 16B. Further, the output information signal subjected to the processing is transmitted as an electric signal or optical pattern by an LED array to the outside of the wafer 10. |
