DEVICE FOR ALIGNMENT OF INK JET CARTRIDGE

PURPOSE: To precisely position an image by correcting the flight delay time of the liquid drops of ink from an ink jet printhead. CONSTITUTION: A carriage position encoder 310 scans a printhead at a first speed along a first axis and a sample pulse generator circuit 308 forms a test pattern on a medium as the printhead is scanned along the first axis in response to an ink jet timing signal for discharging liquid drops to a medium by the printhead. Further, a sensor means 200 detects a test pattern optically and obtains a phase signal depending on a flight time corresponding to the test pattern. A processor means 306 obtains an ink jet timing signal corrected in the flight delay time at a first speed in response to a phase signal.
