The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of [11C]methyl iodide from low concentrations of carbon monoxide (C) and/or carbon dioxide (CO2). Compositions of this type are generally prepared by a heterogeneous gas-phase process which is considerably more simple to carry out than existing processes and which allows a plurality of syntheses without having to replace reactants.
