Exhaust brake with gap opening position

An exhaust brake exists in which a throttle valve 2 is capable of swivelling to and fro between a closed position and an opened position and assumes a gap opening position shortly prior to the closed position. In this it is desirable to facilitate an assured gap opening position of the throttle valve and for it to be adjustable at reduced cost. This is achieved in that, with the throttle valve 2 situated in the gap opening position, the shaft 3 is fixed by means of a lever arm 15 on a stop 20 situated in the closed position which stop can be moved between the closed position and a release position by means of an additional piston-cylinder device 18, to which an additional compressed air device is connected. A driver of a vehicle provided with the said exhaust brake is assisted in warming up the engine of the vehicle at low engine speed with little throttle, producing very little white smoke. <IMAGE>
