The invention relates to a device and a method for electrolytic deposition of paint present in water washed out from a spray booth. The device has a revolving deposition electrode which is immersed in the wash water, and an opposite electrode of opposite polarity which is likewise immersed in the wash water and is at a distance from the deposition electrode, as well as a scraper for removing from the deposition electrode the paint deposited on the deposition electrode as a paint coat. In order, with such a device, also to make it possible to clean economically wash water with low paint concentrations, the opposite electrode is guided, in the region of the immersed deposition electrode, approximately concentrically about said deposition electrode and forms with it a flushing gap which can be exposed continuously to fresh, i.e. not yet treated, wash water.
