A garniture tape (10), especially designed for forming cigarettes and filters in corresponding production machines comprises a carrying side having a friction coefficient, which surface is in contact with the articles to be transported, the carrying side surface (10a) is provided with a coating that increases the friction coefficient, the coating in transverse direction, however, is not applied across the entire tape. By this the carrying side surface of the garniture tape is modified with respect to its friction value without influencing the tranverse homegeneity of the tape. <IMAGE>
