PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce sampling moire caused when a dot original image is processed so as to enhance the image quality. SOLUTION: An image read section 1 reads an image sampled at a prescribed frequency and analog/digital conversion is applied to the read image to obtain original image data. A moire correction circuit 22 calculates interpolation data between pixels on the basis of the quantized original image data, the magnitude correlation between the interpolation data and the original image data is recognized, and the original image data are replaced with one of a plurality of the interpolation data. Phase data denoting to which of the left side, the center and the right side in one pixel the position of the replaced interpolation data corresponds are obtained. While the image data are switched to any of the left side, the center and the right side in one pixel by each pixel on the basis of the phase data, the result is plotted and outputted. |
