The invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions for abolishing migraine in people, characterised in that they contain thyroid hormones in their natural composition, in the form of L-thyroxine, TRH or other appropriate active substances. The invention furthermore relates to a method for abolishing migraine in people by administering the abovementioned active substances. The therapies known to date use customary analgesics, and the disadvantages of long-term treatment with these are known. Targeted intervention in the progress of each attack of migraine has recently been effected with ergotamine tartrate and very recently with sumatriptan. The method for abolishing migraine presented here leads to a change in physiological functions. As a rule, there is freedom from migraine eight weeks after the start of therapy.
