The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a torus for measuring electric current, especially for detecting fault current in electrical mains cables, comprising the stages consisting in i) placing two half-tori (110, 160) made of magnetic material, one of them surrounded by a coil (140), in a mould, the respective polar faces of the half-tori being arranged face to face, ii) placing a spacer between the respective pole faces of the half-tori, iii) supplying the coil (140) with electricity, and iv) filling the mould using an electrically insulating material to form an electrically insulating envelope over the periphery of each half-torus made of magnetic material (110, 160) as well as on the coil (140) associated with one of them. The present invention also relates to the tori obtained. <IMAGE>
