The subject of the present invention is a method and device for removing insects from fruit. The technical sector of the invention involves the construction of equipment for implementing the method which enables pests (harmful insects) to be destroyed, for which the chief application is the treatment of dry or dried fruit such as dates. The method for removing insects from fruit (1) according to the invention is characterised in that: - the said fruit (1) is subjected to a powerful microwave field so that the temperature of the said fruit is between 52 DEG C and 70 DEG C; - the said fruit (1) is kept at this temperature in the said microwave field (2) for a period of 1 to 3 minutes. <IMAGE>
