The shaft 14 supporting the plate 16 intended to receive the load to be tested and rotating about the vertical axis Y-Y' called the yaw axis, is hollow and open at its lower part. The assembly 17, which comprises the rotational drive motor of this shaft, gearing and a brake for the shaft, is housed in the internal space 16 of the shaft 14. The shaft 14 is supported so as to rotate inside a block 9 laterally attached to horizontal support arms 8. The assembly formed by the arms 8 and the block 9 rotates about a transverse horizontal axis called the pitch axis. The invention makes it possible to obtain a compact test bench with low inertia, using only a low-power motor for rotation about the pitch axis. <IMAGE>
