<p>Methods and products for stimulating cell-mediated immunity against intracellular pathogens are provided. A foreign body is implanted into a subject to induce the formation of a fibrous capsule defining a chronic, local inflammatory site. An antigen associated with a pathogen then is presented at that site at a level appropriate for stimulating cell-mediated immunity. The antigen is presented by a solid, immunogenic, subcutaneous implant containing the antigen.</p> |
