A resealable plastic closure (Fig. 1) formed of one piece of plastic material includes a swivelable diaphragm (11) to allow a hinged spout (5) to pivot between an upright dispensing position (Fig. 6) and a down closed position (Fig. 7). To permit easier operation in closures containing diaphragms in small sizes, the diaphragm (11) is divided by a crease (29), hinging the two sections (15, 13), and one diaphragm section is invertible (15) and the other diaphragm section is pliable, deformable (13). In a related aspect, when closed the spout's front end (9) is closed by a front end plug (102) located on a confronting wall. A novel cam arrangement (103, 110) allows closing the spout without causing wear to the front end sealing plug, enhancing the closure's operational longevity. Improved side latches (24, 26) for the spout are provided by flexible latch member supporting walls (20a, 20b) that may flex into an adjacent cavity (24a, 26a) on the underside of the closure base.
