In a spinning machine with a suck-off device (10), in which each spinning station (18, 19, 20) is assigned a casing (143b, 143c, 146, 164b, 164c, 165) enclosing the spinning station all-round, and with an orifice (148c) for discharging the air out of the region of the spinning station (18) into a collector (14), the orifice (148c) in the form of a slit opens directly into the collector (14) located behind the casing of the spinning stations (18, 19, 20), the front wall (146) of the collector (14) forming the rear wall of the casing. Furthermore, a spinning station (18) is shielded from outside by separators (143b, 143c) as well as partition walls (164b, 164c) and a door (165). Air can pass from below only through the interspace between the ring (162) and the spindle (31) which is wound with thread (161). On account of the negative pressure in the collector (14), air is sucked in from above in the direction of the arrows (22a and 22b). Heat and fibre fly occurring in the region of the spinning stations are thereby discharged completely out of the casing through the front orifice (148c). <IMAGE>
