The invention relates to a longitudinally watertight cable having plastic insulation and an outer spiral or annular corrugated metal sheath, having a core or a core assembly with plastic insulation and having an outer conductive layer and a sealing layer which is arranged between said conductive layer and the metal sheath, and achieves the object of providing such a cable with a moisture trap which makes it possible to seal the cable effectively in a short time even against advancing water penetration.
