PURPOSE:To obtain an adsorbent having radiation durability and radioactive nuclide adsorptivity by utilizing as the radioactive nuclide adsorbent the fibrous active carbon which comprises an inorganic skeleton having a specified physical properties. CONSTITUTION:As the radioactive nuclide adsorbent, the fibrous active carbon having a >=1200m<2>/g BET of specific surface area and a >=15% of equilibrium moisture content at 45% relative humidity is used. The fibrous active carbon is produced by using wood or coconut shell as the raw material and providing it with hydrophilicity by performing the air or ozone oxidation, etc., of the raw material to increase the equilibrium moisture content. Thus the adsorbent which has radiation durability and good radioactive nuclide adsorptivity due to its hydrophilicity and also a fibrous form can easily be formed into sheets, cartridges, etc. |
