The invention relates to pigments of empirical formula (TiO<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>a</SUB>(ZnO)<SUB>b</SUB>(SnO)<SUB>c</SUB>(SnO<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>d</SUB>(RE<SUB>x</SUB>O<SUB>y</SUB>)<SUB>e</SUB>(EAO)<SUB>f</SUB>(M<SUB>u</SUB>O<SUB>v</SUB>)<SUB>g</SUB> where RE is a metal of the third sub-group or a rare earth metal, EA is an earth alkali metal and M is any further metal, with a = 0.8 - 3; b = 0.5 - 1.3; c = 0.5 - 1.3; d = 0 - 0.5; e = 0 - 0.3; f = 0 - 0.3; g = 0 - 0.1, where e + f = 0.01. RE is preferably selected from the elements Y, La, Ce and Pr. The pigments are used for colouring paints, printing inks, inks, plastics and rubber. |
