A machine for attaching and flush milling edge strips on the narrow surfaces of plate-shaped workpieces in continuous operation has a transport device on which the workpieces can be clamped in place in such a way as to project with the relevant narrow side transversely to the passage direction. Furthermore, it has an edge-gluing device and a flush-milling device arranged laterally on the transport device one behind the other in the passage direction. The flush-milling device has at least one milling tool which is made to follow up with its rotational axis transversely to the passage direction and parallel to the workpiece plane and so as to be flush with the top side of the workpiece. Such a machine is to be operable from one location, is to be of compact construction and is to require no additional overall width or no separate conveying mechanism for the return of the workpieces. To this end, the machine works in such a way that, at the end of the passage of the workpiece at the flush-milling device, the milling tool is lowered, the conveying direction of the transport device is reversed and, during the return, the milling tool is made to follow up in such a way as to be flush with the underside of the workpiece. …<IMAGE>… |
