The appts. for sorting unwashed root vegetables, esp. carrots, black carrots, radishes or beetroot, according to increasing size fractions, comprises a first roll conveyor (2) comprising a no. of rotating rolls (3) arranged at a distance from one another which is less than the lowest max. dia. of the vegetables. There is an arrangement (5) comprising a no. of divergingly arranged pair of lines (6) provided with belt conveyors (7) for sorting according to size, and rotating droppers (8,9) for dispensing the vegetables along each of the lines (6).
